Gumnut changes hands

13 July 2009

The Gumnut Coffee Shop has been bought by 'neighbours' - Greg Harris, in partnership with Allyson Wedrat and Jim Kroezen. Greg is the owner/manager of Capital Weed Control, operating from offices at Hall Village Court; Allyson and Jim run the Wood Duck Inn. Allyson tells us that she has long been attracted to the potential benefits of combining these two businesses, and so is delighted now to have the opportunity to 'make it happen'.

The Wood Duck Inn already has a small restaurant, which is closely identified with the 'pub'. It is envisaged that the additional premises will continue to operate as a coffee shop during the day, but will eventually operate as a restaurant, with a distinct identity, in the evenings.

The decision has already been taken to open seven days a week from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm, and the coffee shop premises are available for function bookings. It is expected the the Rotary Club of Hall will continue to have dinner and hold their meetings there on Tuesday evenings. Enquiries from other groups will be welcomed.

Good luck Greg, Allyson and Jim with this bold new venture!

Thank you Colleen for your years in charge, and best wishes!
