It's your cottage now
16 November 2009
Renovations of the former principal's cottage at the school are now completed, and although some formalities are still to be finalised, the Hall Cottage (as we propose to call it) is available for use.
A good number of community members dropped in on Sunday and Monday to have a look - and were pretty impressed [see photo]. The cottage has been refurbished throughout, with full disability access, including toilet facilities. There is a fine kitchen, two substantial heating / air-conditioning units, plenty of cupboard storage space for any clubs or association's that might want to adopt it as a meeting venue, and a substantial outdoor area under the shade of a pergola. Gas hot water heating is coming.
The Progress Association and the Rotary Club of Hall are already using it for meetings. It will be a good home for social tennis, and for the Mens Shed participants when this gets going. It may host Pilates classes in the new year while the pavilion is getting the renovation treatment. It is envisaged that it will eventually be operating as a typical 'neighbourhood centre'. There will be a small charge for users in order to cover the annual outlays for utility charges, etc.
What would YOU like to see it used for?
