Victoria Square - under way at last?!

18 August 2010

We are advised by ACTPLA that work will recommence on rectification of the Victoria Square development in the very near future - weather permitting. This is very welcome news, but in view of past history, residents will be entitled to remain cautious.

An agreement has been reached with the builder for rectification of units 6,7, and 8 - the three town houses at the right rear of the development. The roofs of these units will be lowered according to the approved plans, with an 'error' allowance of 340 mm, which is a standard for the building industry. Technically this is still a breach, but in the interests of getting the work completed, this tolerance is to be allowed.

We are told that work may begin on these three units as early as next week if the weather permits.

ACTPLA will then work out with the builder a similar resolution for rectification of the final two units. 9 and 10. This too will involve lowering of roof levels.

No date for finalisation of the work has been given, but there is room for optimism that it is not too far away
