Backing our Band

6 November 2009

In response to a request for support, the Progress Association has made a donation of six hundred dollars to the Hall Village Brass Band. The money is to enable them to purchase uniform jackets for band members.

In handing over a cheque to Bandmaster Colin Fischer, Alastair Crombie observed that, as a small, not-for-profit community group, the Association does not as a rule make donations of this sort. However, the Hall VIllage Brass Band has a very special connection with the village and district community which both organisations are now keen to maintain, and develop.

In thanking the Association, Colin Fischer said that the Band is very keen to remember where and how it was born, twenty five years ago. Hall Primary School was the original practice venue. This lead to the well attended and much enjoyed 25th Anniversary Concert at the school last year.

On behalf of the Association Alastair Crombie warmly welcomed the interest from the Band in building on the relationship. Plans are now under way to repeat the 2009 twilight concert on a Sunday in March next, with a view to this becoming an annual event.
