Meeting with AFP Crime Prevention
20 May 2008
Association members, including committee members Alastair Crombie, Tony Morris and Brian Banyard, met today with officers from the Crime Prevention unit of the AFP to discuss crime prevention and community safety issues in our community.
The meeting is a follow up to the multiple break-in on Victoria Street some months back, and the wish of the Association to play a more active role in crime prevention and community safety.
AFP representatives were very positive and very helpful, and a number of steps are being proposed. Our plan is to use the community website, and the Rural Fringe, to report on crime affecting the community, and the measures that we can take as business owners, householders, and citizens.
One action already available to us all is to call Crime Stoppers. IF you have any information about crime in your neighbourhood, or you are concerned about suspicious activity, please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
